Pride Of Etna

"WE WILL ACT TODAY SO THAT IN THE FUTURE OUR COMMUNITY IS AN ATTRACTIVE PLACE THAT IS THRIVING AND ECONOMICALLY SOUND. WE ENVISION AN ETNA THAT IS KNOWN FOR A GOOD SCHOOL SYSTEM AND COOPERATIVE GOVERNMENT. OUR FUTURE INCLUDES A FOCUS ON SAFETY AND A RESPECTED, COMMUNITY-ORIENTED POLICE FORCE. WE CONTINUE TO ADDRESS ISSUES OF FLOOD CONTROL"

Pride Of Etna Committee

This year’s beautification project for the all- volunteer group was repainting of the Pine Street Pedestrian Bridge.  This bridge is about ninety feet long and crosses Pine Creek near Dougherty Veteran’s Field.  It is a direct connection to our swimming pool and playground facility as well as to the central business district of the town.  About ten volunteers spent a Saturday this summer sprucing up the forest green paint on the bridge.  The completed job gave a sense of pride and satisfaction to all who helped out!!  The group is busy planning next year’s project.

A new edition to Pride of Etna……………….

Once a month this group volunteers on the third Saturday to do a Pride of Etna Cleanup campaign.  They meet at the Municipal Building at 9:45 a.m. and spend an hour picking up litter and pulling weeds out of the curb line throughout the community!  One hour – and there’s coffee and donuts – compliments of the Mayor!!!  It is a fun way to get your Saturday morning started – with plenty of time left for your own personal needs!!  Please consider coming down some Saturday morning and giving us a hand!  The sense of pride is a good way to get your weekend going!!  This fall we are beginning a new edition to our once-a-month clean up ………A POP UP BLOCK PARTY……….
Yes, you read correctly!  We are going to go out into a particular neighborhood/street spend an hour picking up litter and then we are going to pull out the grill and folding chairs for some all American hot dogs and camaraderie with those residents!  We provide the food! Come on out and say hello!   Watch for us…………it could be your neighborhood!!!

The Cops VS Kids annual basketball game was held August 26! Attendance was fabulous for this annual event pitting our youth against our police officers!! This is the tenth year of this event. The Cops won last year, but this year the Kids were victorious, beating the cops 44-38. Free food (courtesy of all the Etna Churches) and free swimming followed. This is an annual Youth event sponsored by the Pride of Etna committee, the Etna Police Department and our local churches!!

The Etna Teen Advisory Board – E.T.A.B. is made up of volunteer youth ages 13 through 18 who meet monthly and discuss how they can partner with the community on ways to engage our youth.

The Etna Teen Advisory Board is looking for new members.  If you are age 13 through 18 and interested in joining the Teen Advisory Board, give us a call at 412-781-0569.  The Etna Teen Advisory Board provides insight to Council on issues facing the youth of our community.  They are an integral part of the annual “Etna Teen Day Celebration” planning and have initiated projects within the community.  Give us a call to learn more.
