During the first three Tuesdays of each month, volunteers work from 9:00 AM to noon helping to stock shelves for the shopping day to follow. Clients shop for food items the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00 AM to noon, the second Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, or the third Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. During shopping hours, volunteers assist clients, load vehicles, and keep the food pantry organized.
The food pantry’s major fundraisers are Scouting for Food, Stamp Out Hunger, the Souper Bowl of Caring, and the Etna Food Drive. It also receives food donations from Aldi’s in Shaler Plaza, Whole Foods in Wexford, Schwebel’s Bakery Outlet in Gibsonia, and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
GPC contributes to the food pantry on the second Sunday of each month. Our children collect food and monetary donations from the congregation during the “Time for Young Disciples” part of our 10:30 worship service.
The Bread of Life Food Pantry appreciates the many people of Glenshaw Presbyterian who continue to help their mission. If you have an hour or two to volunteer on any of the times listed above, you are welcome to join in their efforts.
